Barbados 11-1-14

We actually had a fun Halloween.  Some of the crew were dressed in costume too and very clever ones.  We arrived in Barbados right on schedule this morning.  Kay, Nancy, Deb and Patty went to the Hilton to use the beach there.  Unbeknown to us, the water there was very rough and actually had red flags flying.  The girls came back exhausted from fighting the waves and riptides.  It was the first time in both cruises that Kay yelled “uncle” and left the show last night to go to bed.  Debbie and I got off and went to the terminal to get flowers (a ritual for us when we are in Barbados).  While she was fixing them for us we walked through the shops.  Debbie bought some Christmas ornaments and we both got some vanilla.  We found a shop that sold bamboo clothing and went in.  OMG!  The stuff is so soft you can’t believe the difference.  Both Debbie and I wound up buying sheets and they will send them home free.  I can’t wait to get them now.  We went back to pick up the flower arrangement and the lady had the agriculture man there to give us a form so we could take them back now.  We have never had to do that before.  We met Judy for lunch and then Judy had a spa appointment and Debbie and I had purchased day passes for the Thermal Suite.  We enjoyed it but it was way too hot in there.  Usually they have cold showers and ice but had neither yesterday.  So many disappointing things about this ship that just are broken, don’t work or they are short staffed and not doing the little things anymore.  Our cabin steward has been working since we got on without a helper but they are still expected to do the same number of cabins.

It was Port Day in Barbados

We met for cocktails at the Schooner Bar as usual before dinner.  We had 6:30 PM reservations at Izumi which is the Asian restaurant on deck 13 at the back of the ship.  There is only one way to get there and that is by the stairs outside at the back of the ship.  Poor planning since in bad weather people don’t want to go.  Anyway, it was sushi and fried rice and cooking on hot rocks.  Kay, Sharon and Judy order the hot rocks dinner while Debbie and I did soup, sushi and fried rice.  All of ours was delicious but Kay and Judy did not like the hot rocks at all.  Kay said she was having to cook her own dinner and she didn’t like the way it tasted.

After dinner we went to the show which was Horizon a Motown imitation group.  They were good but Kay was falling asleep from her beach beating so shortly after Kay left the group did an encore and the rest of us left and went to bed!  The End.
