I met Debbie
at the Atlanta airport and after an initial gate change we had an uneventful
flight to Boston. I had ordered some
wine at a shop I found online since we couldn’t carry it on the plane. I had twenty text messages from Kay asking “Are
you here yet”? I finally answered yes and we got the luggage then
headed to the taxi stand which of course was a block away! Kay and Judy were already on the ship. We did get a good driver and he got us to the
wine shop and waited while I ran in and picked up the order. Then we were at the port and on the ship in
ten minutes at most. Most people were on
already at 2:15 or so. We went directly
to the cabin and met Kay and Judy who are our next door neighbors this
cruise. The cabins are tight but then
after the suite on the Oasis, everything would seem small! The weather was very chilly and there were
FROST warnings out for the Boston area for tonight. The Crystal Symphony was docked behind
us. We backed out of our dock promptly
at 5 PM and wow did it get cold…the wind was blowing and I was surprised there
were no snowflakes in the wind! We have
early seating dinner so we went inside to keep from freezing to death as well
as get ready for dinner.
The cabin TV
has given us many facts about Boston which is nice because there is nothing
else on the stupid TV but you can rent a movie for $11.99! Kay had texted me the info she was ready
about Boston before I was able to read it for myself. She said if three women room together in
Boston it is considered to be a brothel…ok then. Then we read the reason it is called
“Beantown” is that everyone in Boston liked baked beans hence Boston Baked
Beans. Everyone knew this apparently but me. There were more facts related to
the Boston Tea Party but you can study history on your own.
We found our
table for dinner and we are crammed at a table for four in the back of the
dining room. We can’t move back there
and neither can the waiters. The food we
had that night was not hot when we got it but we decided to let it slide as
first night organization issues that sometimes happen the first night of the
cruise. They had a show that night but
all of us were so tired we passed and went to bed early. As we headed to the North Atlantic it got
very “Swoopy”. We would have slept good
but the bed was very hard and that is how our first day and night ended.
Yay - happy to finally read what you girls are up to! The weather does look to be a challenge - there is snow in the forecast for Monday,, thank goodness we will be heading south by that time.
